Hello Friends and Family,

I was blown away by the Christmas tree in the living room. In fact, this photo became my Christmas card image this year. Not only was the tree beautifully decorated but the furniture, the drapes, the carpets, and the decorations were so very perfect!

Here is a better look at the living room fireplace, complete with a clock on the mantel, poinsettia flowers, candles, and a painting above it all.

The chair in the corner brought back memories of my great-grandfather's house so many years ago.

The accompanying sofa, complete with handmade pillows, was perfect for that era.

This appears to be a space heater — note the plumbing on the left (next to the wall) to provide natural gas to fuel it. You may recall that central heating was not a feature of homes in those days. You just put on another sweater and then added another log to the fire in the fireplace.

And a beautiful piano added music to the Christmas festivities — fancy stereos were not invented yet, so no Bing Crosby singing "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas”. You and your family had to entertain each other.

Next, we see a simple set of shelves filled with handmade Christmas elves and other figures. The times were simple then but would have provided so much joy for the residents of the Peterson House.

Another fireplace, another clock, more poinsettias, more greenery, and a couple of candles adorn the mantel. Above is another painting and I love the scrollwork surrounding the painting — so well done.

In the dining room, plates and silverware were set in anticipation of dinner. I love the image of the soaring seabird on the plate — nice!

Here is a wall-mounted plate rack, a common architectural detail in those days.

And last for this week, we see another decorated Christmas tree in a little niche with a pretty blanket covering the stand. Well done, well done!

To be continued...

Life is good.

Aloha,
B. David
