Kapuaiwa Coconut Grove Sunset

Kapuaiwa Coconut Grove is an historic site on the south shore of Moloka`i. It was planted by King Kamehameha V with 1,000 coconut palm trees to honor each warrior in his army. The site has been reduced in size over the years but the trees have grown so tall that it is impossible for maintenance people to remove the coconuts. Therefore it is dangerous to enter the grove and signs warn visitors to stay out. This spot exhibits spectacular sunsets — which can be viewed and photographed without entering the grove itself.
